As mentioned in my first post, I'll be doing recaps of each month. July has been a bit underwhelming, but I'm not complaining. I've had a lot of time to rest before the next school year. But I've also had some fun and tapped into some of my hobbies.
Fort Worth, Texas
The girls program that I'm in, Girls Rockin' in Power, had our first major trip in the beginning of July! We drove from Columbus to Fort Worth, and stayed there for a week. I had so much fun. On our first day, we went to the Central Market, and it was the biggest grocery store I've ever seen. I still can't wrap my head around the size of it. The manager (I think?) gave us a tour and let us have samples of the fresh fruit, cheese, and other items. After, we watched the market chefs cook shrimp scampi for us, while asking questions about the meal and being a chef. They used fresh house-made pasta, and it was so good. They also gave us some banana pudding to take home. After, we went to the Stockyards, where we saw bulls and horses. People were riding the horses and there were carriages. We also took a look at some souvenir shops. Later that night, we went to watch the fireworks (it was the 4th of July) and they were beautiful.
On the second day, one of the girls and I had a grilled cheese competition, while another made chicken tenders and fries. I won the grilled cheese competition (use gouda and mozzarella) and the chicken tenders were delicious. After dinner, we watched the sunset and then the stars until we were called back in.
On the third day, we went thrift shopping, and I got 3 maxi skirts. After, we went to a Mexican restaurant, and then to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. It was very calm and the art was unique. Later, one of the girls made chicken wings, and we made more fries to go with them.
On our last two days, we had a tea party, went to the pool, held our production, and stopped at Whataburger on our way home. It was my first time having it, and it was pretty good. Overall, Texas was really fun and I would love to go back one day.
Miscellaneous
A lot of trips with GRIP got cancelled due to financial troubles, but it did give me more time to spend with my friends. I almost missed my friend's quince, but I got to go and it was so beautiful. I also got to mess around with some makeup, and did a look inspired by Scar from The Lion King. One of the girls from camp picked me up one day to go to McDonald's and the Riverwalk. I also did my first wash-and-go with some sample products I got from Texas.
Art and Crochet
For most of this year, I've been working on illustrations for a children's book, so I didn't have much time to draw outside of that. I recently did some shading practice to get myself back into the flow. I have a lot of other art planned, such as fanart, challenges, and more practice. I didn't mention this in my last post, but I also learned how to crochet last month! So far I've made a bralette top, a mini cat, and a shrug. The cat came out kinda wonky, but the girl I made it for thinks it's cute. And the shrug is currently unfinished because I ran out of yarn. But I'm still proud of all of them. My next project will either be a cardigan, a skirt, or a plant pot.
Goals/Conclusion
This month wasn't super active, but next month definitely should be. School is starting, which means new routines and new experiences. I want to make my junior year my best year yet academically. I also plan on using my time to the fullest by meditating, working out, and studying. So stay tuned, and be sure to subscribe to get emails when I post!
