September has been so busy. I've accomplished a lot of academic achievements, had a lot of fun, and my birthday was this month!
Homecoming
My school is relatively new (it opened in 2017) and we don't have sports, so we've never had a homecoming. Last school year, some friends and I started a party committee and held our first Halloween party. A lot of people asked us about a homecoming, so this year, we officialized the committee and held our first annual homecoming! The RMSOTA Party Committee is now an official branch of SGA (Student Government Association). I serve as admin, secretary, and decorating chair. I'm an over-achiever sometimes, but we are looking for another person to fill the decorating chair position. Homecoming stressed me out immensely, however, it was so much fun. We made Vegas signs for the doors, and some of the decorations were covered by one of our teachers. We got food donated by parents as well, and sold a lot of tickets. 176 to be exact, with a total profit (after paying the DJ and security) of $1338. I went to the homecoming with my friend in matching dresses, and it was so much fun! We went to IHOP afterwards, and I spent the following weekend at her house. Now, the party committee is planning for our second Halloween party, and this one will be for middle school and high school.
Birthday
My birthday was September 14, and it was so much fun! I didn't do much the day of, but the following weekend, I went over to my friend's house and we made a Spider Man cake! It looked a little wonky, but it tasted delicious. She also made me a birthday basket which i found so cute. Just recently, I got a free burger from Red Robin, and my boss took me out to eat at YourPie. I also got some free desserts from Chick-Fil-A.
GA Probe Fair + Plaza Fiesta
Earlier this month, I was granted the opportunity to attend the Georgia Probe Fair in Atlanta. It was held at the Atlanta Metropolitan State College. We got to go to the tables of colleges all over the US and gather information sheets and souvenirs. After, we took a tour of the college, then went to Georgia Tech for lunch. I got to see some old friends from other schools as well. Overall it was a great experience.
I also went on another field trip to Plaza Fiesta. This is a Latin mall in Atlanta. We had an assignment to interview people that worked there. The catch was that everyone speaks Spanish, so we had to speak Spanish as well. Luckily, the two men I interviewed were very friendly and spoke a little English, which was helpful when I was struggling to understand what they said. After interviewing, we took a tour of the mall, and it was beautiful. My favorite part was seeing the quinceañera dresses. I wanted to try one on, but the vendor I found said I couldn't unless I had intentions of buying (which is valid). Then we went to the food court, and everyone's meals looked so delicious.
Academics
I've been thriving academically as well. I recently got inducted to the National Honor Society. I also ran for SGA secretary and won! I made my campaign posters, and everyone was very fond of the black one because of the Mean Girls reference. In a few days, I will be inducted into the Spanish Honor Society as well. The end of the first nine weeks is coming up, and so far my grades look great!
Art
I haven't done much creatively this month, but I did do a little crochet. I made a few sprouts: one for my water bottle, one for my friend, and another for a new water bottle because I lost the first one. I also finished the shrug I was working on. Additionally, I got two new orders from Beaded by Ainani!
Conclusion
September was a blast, but also a headache. I plan to spend October relaxing and recuperating, but I also have some goals. I have two more orders to fill for my business, and then there's the Halloween party. I also want to do some more art, since I didn't do any this month. Make sure you subscribe to get updates on how everything goes!
