The first semester of my senior year has been insanely eventful. I'm very glad I got the opportunity to participate in so many things, and I hope to participate in even more next semester.

August

August started off my senior year, and it was very relaxed. The day before the first day of school, my class held a senior sunrise. We went to the top of a parking garage to watch the sunrise, then painted jeans and t-shirts. My friends later hung out to get breakfast and visit some stores.

The first day of school was fun, but not a lot happened. I'm happy with my schedule, since I have all electives.

I auditioned for the dance show at our school. I'm a self taught dancer and a little rusty, but I wanted to put myself out there because I love dance. I'm challenging myself to try new things this year and be involved, so this was my first step towards that! The audition didn't go amazing, but I got into one dance, so I'm happy!

At the end of the month, Savannah took me to see Spiderman for my birthday. I'm a huge Spiderman fan, and there was a live concert version of it that I was dying to see. However, since I'm saving for my birthday, I wasn't able to buy tickets. Savannah surprised me, though, and we had a great time! The show was beautiful, and the orchestra was amazing.

September

This is the month of my birthday! I've spent most of the month preparing for it, making last minute purchases, putting together decorations, and making sure everything was in order. I got my nails that my aunt made, and they're beautiful.

My birthday party finally came, and it was so exciting! I was very stressed for most of the day doing final decorations, practicing with my court, and getting ready, but once the party started, that all went away. I did my dances with my court, gave and received speeches, and then finally partied! Not everything went perfect, but I'm still very happy. I worked very hard to make this happen for the past year, and it drove me crazy, but I'm happy to say I made it happen. I'm very grateful to everyone who helped me emotionally, financially, and with services.

I have an art class this year, and I finished my first art project this month! It's a neurographic art piece that started off as just random lines. This was my first time using colored pencils on a large scale, and I finally understand the hype behind Prismacolor pencils. I'm very happy with how it came out.

My Spanish class combined with a few others to have a field trip to Plaza Fiesta! This was my second year going. This time, I tried birria tacos, which were good, but I think they would have been better with cheese. I also got queso blanco and chips, which were amazing as usual. I also tried a strawberry agua fresca, which was an interesting flavor but I liked it a lot.

October

October was extremely eventful for me. It started off with a tour of Huntington College. Our school went on a field trip, and we had a few alumni show us around. We then had lunch in their dining hall. We had a great time!

I decided to do run crew for my school's One Act musical. This year, we performed Urinetown the Musical. This was my first time being involved in theatre, and it was a lot of fun! I learned a lot about being backstage and helping the cast with things like quick changes and props, as well as how important it is to make sure the set is placed in the correct positions.

I also started going to dance practices. They're in the morning, so it's an adjustment to my schedule. They're going very well and I'm excited to see the finished product.

I also had a chorus concert! I finally have a chorus class this year, which I'm excited about because I've been wanting to get better at singing. I had a solo in this concert, which was a great opportunity! I had a great time.

Later in the month, we performed the show for the One Act competition. First, we got to watch other school's shows. They all did a great job. Then, we performed our show. It was nerve-wracking, but fun at the same time. We finished the show, and I rushed back to the audience because my best friend Josh was the main character in the next show! He did amazing, and I'm so proud of him. Later, we ate pizza and received awards. A lot of our actors won awards, and we won third place overall. We didn't advance to state-level, but we did later find out that our musical got chosen to perform at Thescon!

I finished another art piece for my art class. I'm very happy about this one. This was my second time using colored pencils, but my first time using them with realism. This was also my first time in years dabbling in realism. I decided to do a realistic version of a piece I did in the past, and I love how it came out. My art teacher was very impressed as well. I also started another piece, which is realism of origami.

Savannah and I also did some things for Halloween! We got a little dressed up and did some shopping at Spirit Halloween, then got some ice cream. We also carved pumpkins. This was my first time carving pumpkins, so it was a lot of fun (but very hard). I also spent a lot of time this month making my Halloween costume. Josh lent me his sewing machine and taught me how to use it. It came out great, with only a few things wrong. I'm pretty proud of it for it being my first time using a sewing machine.

November

One of the first things I did this month was vote. It was very exciting to be able to vote so soon after turning 18. It was a great experience.

The Party Committee finished planning our annual Homecoming, and we had it this month. The theme was Midnight Magic, based on a nighttime museum experience. It was a lot of fun, and everyone had a great time.

I was in my first art show since middle school this month. I was very honored because both of my pieces were featured in the main gallery. The art show was crowded, and it was great to be able to see everyone's different art pieces. There were also a lot of great treats.

I had two Thanksgiving celebrations this month. One of them was a friendsgiving with my senior class. We had Olive Garden cater, and played music while we all talked. It was a lot of fun, and the food was delicious.

Later that month, I had Thanksgiving at Savannah's house. I made my mom's macaroni recipe, and it was well enjoyed by her family. I'm happy with how it came out! We had other great food and had a great time.

December

The theatre department was invited to be in a Christmas parade, so our tech theatre class helped build their float. I worked on the wreath and fireplace area with a few others, and it was a lot of fun. I'm very happy with how it came out.

For our spring musical, we're doing Heathers: Teen Edition. I decided to audition for it, so I spent quite a bit of time practicing my monologue and song. The audition was a scary experience, but I enjoyed it and I'm glad I put myself out there. I didn't end up getting in, but I'm going to try for run crew so that I can still be involved and get more experience backstage.

Our senior class had a small get-together for Christmas. We did Secret Santa and had hot chocolate and cookies. I had a great time seeing everyone's gifts and spending extra school time with my friends.

On the last day of school before Christmas break, my Spanish class had a small celebration. We made arepas and quesadillas. I wasn't a big fan of the arepas, but they were good! The quesadillas were also good, but tortillas make my stomach hurt for some reason. Nonetheless, I had a great time.

I spent this Christmas at Savannah's house. I had a great time! In my stocking, I got fuzzy socks and a makeup palette, along with some candy. Under the tree, I got a fuzzy green blanket, beauty blenders, a big art kit, fuzzy slippers, and a hot cocoa mug. I was very grateful for everything I got, and had a great time watching everyone else open their gifts. Later that night, I made macaroni again, as well as candied sweet potatoes. The family enjoyed these a lot.

I also spent New Year's with Savannah's family. We had a lot of fun! There was pizza, video games, movies, and card games. We didn't shoot fireworks, but we watched the ball drop and blew party horns. I had a great time, and I'm excited for the New Year

Conclusion

My first semester of senior year was great! I tried a lot of new things and they were all a lot of fun. I'm excited for next semester. I have the dance show, a Valentine's dance, the spring musical, prom, and graduation to look forward to. Be sure to subscribe to stay updated!
