May Recap

This month was a ton of fun! I spent a lot of time with friends and tried out some new experiences. Next month, I have even more new activities coming, and I'm very excited.

Museum

One of my city's local museums did a remodel, and I went to check it out with Josh and Tayveon. It was very cool in there. I had been to this museum twice before, but now it seemed much more alive. There were many cool sections, such as music, black history, modern art, multimedia, ceramics, and more. The children's area was nice, with a calm area, several books, and a mini-playground. There was also a room with a doorway made of tinsel and filled with silver balloons. I'm not sure if that symbolized anything, but taking pictures in there was a lot of fun. Lastly, there was a silent disco downstairs. They had 3 color-coded channels, one entirely of Taylor Swifts' discography. This disco came with some yummy refreshments and a 360 photo booth. Overall, the museum's remodel was very interesting and I'd like to go back and visit again.

Thespian Induction

My friend Savannah is involved with the theatre at our school, and this month, she was inducted into the Thespian Society Troupe 8787. It was a very nice event held in our concert hall, with many people receiving awards and recognizing new officers. Savannah got the award "Compassionate Critter Rescuer Award." We had a lot of fun, and I'm very proud of her.

Junior Trip

Two of the teachers at our school happened to teach most of (if not all) of our junior class, so they decided to plan a field trip for us! We went to Downtown Columbus and viewed some historic sites. Afterwards, we went on a scavenger hunt for things around the area. Afterwards, my friend Heirius and I stopped at YourPie and got pizzas, then a small ice cream shop to get ice cream and boba. I don't get to go on field trips often because of my major, so this was a lot of fun!

New Activities

This month, I tried two new things: dual enrollment and a wash-and-go. On the last day of school, my dual enrollment classes started. I decided to take summer classes for my last two required core classes so that when senior year started, I could take all electives. Starting dual enrollment was difficult at first because I had some technical difficulties with the program, but after a few days it smoothed out. I'm taking English and Economics, which are pretty easy so far. As for my hair, I cycle through the same three hairstyles (afro, twists, and some form of puffs), and while that's okay, I wanted to expand. I've been wanting to try a wash-and-go, and I finally decided to try it with some of my mom's hair products. I tracked the progress over two weeks, and it lasted for about a week and a half (partially due to humidity and rain). I liked my hair best on day 5. I want to try it again and get it to last 2 weeks, so we'll see about that in the future.

Birthday Celebration

My friend Tayveon's birthday was this month, and we went out to celebrate it with some of his friends. We first went to the botanical garden and spent some time looking at all of the structures built inside. Then, we went to McDonald's. I usually get a double cheeseburger, but this time I tried the double quarter-pounder. It was more wide than it was tall, but I think it was too much burger for me. Afterwards, we went to the ice skating rink, but they were closed, so that ended the hang out. I still had a lot of fun and I enjoyed meeting Tayveon's friends.

GoFundMe

My birthday is coming up in a few months! I didn't have a Sweet 16, so I'd like to have a big party for my 18th birthday. However, funds are tight at the moment, so assistance would be greatly appreciated. Funds will go towards purchasing everything needed for the party: venue, decorations, DJ, photography, clothing, catering, etc. Any donation, no matter how big or small, is so greatly appreciated. If you'd like to support or share, the link to my GoFundMe is here: https://gofund.me/10ccbe8b

Conclusion

May was very eventful, and I had a lot of fun! I expect June to be a little less exciting because I'm starting my job, but that in itself will be a new experience. Be sure to subscribe to stay updated!
