This month was a lot of fun! I started my first job, and spent a lot of time with my best friend.
Pride Festival
Every year, my city holds a Pride Festival downtown. This was my second year going, and I went with my best friend Savannah. I did very colorful makeup and had a silver outfit. I had a few strangers stop me for pictures, which was very flattering. There was a lot of vendors selling pride merchandise, as well as lots of yummy food. Savannah and I got BBQ hotdogs, and later got pizza. We walked in the parade and met some cool people. Later that night, we watched the drag show, which was very colorful and entertaining. I had a great time, and I hope to go back next year!
Girls' Day
I started my job this month, which meant I'd be super busy. Because of this, Savannah and I planned a girl's day. It was a lot of fun. It started off with her making a breakfast of French toast and eggs. Then, we went Goodwill shopping and found some funny items. Afterwards, we went to Olive Garden, which was delicious. The kicker was that she surprised me with horse riding! I'm afraid of heights and big animals, so riding a horse was very scary at first, but I ended up enjoying it a lot. Overall, I enjoyed the day a lot and I had a ton of fun.
Work
I started my first job this month! It was with the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program, which is a program that the mayor made to give teens something productive to do during the summer. I got stationed at a summer camp, which was right up my alley since I do a summer camp every year. I couldn't get a lot of pictures, but I'm having a lot of fun so far. The kids are very sweet. They do a lot of crafts and spend a lot of time outside, which is great. We also had a barbeque to celebrate Juneteenth (and because we're closed the week of 4th of July), which was fun and delicious. Away from the camp, everyone involved in the Employment Program meets on Mondays, and one Monday, we went ice skating! I decided to not get on the ice because I can't skate and wasn't open to learning that day, but it was fun watching my friends and eating ice cream!
Wisdom Teeth
One thing I did this month that wasn't fun was getting my wisdom teeth removed. It was a very strange experience. At first, it wasn't all bad, with a lot of pain and sleep. However, once the fatigue wore off, I had to be awake for the pain, and that was no fun. I was also extremely hungry, since I could only eat soft foods and that limited my diet a lot. I believe I got dry socket, which made my experience even more painful. However, I got through it, and I feel a lot better now.
Fireworks
Even though it's not the 4th of July yet, Savannah and I went to watch fireworks yesterday! It was a lot of fun, even though the lines for food were insane. We waited 30 minutes to get hotdogs at one point! I ran into my friend Tayveon there which was unexpected. When the sun set, the firework show started, and it was very beautiful. I had a great time.
GoFundMe
My birthday is coming up in a few months! I didn't have a Sweet 16, so I'd like to have a big party for my 18th birthday. However, funds are tight at the moment, so assistance would be greatly appreciated. Funds will go towards purchasing everything needed for the party: venue, decorations, DJ, photography, clothing, catering, etc. Any donation, no matter how big or small, is so greatly appreciated. If you'd like to support or share, the link to my GoFundMe is here: https://gofund.me/10ccbe8b
Conclusion
June was a very fun month! I don't expect much for July since I'll be working, but I'll be meeting new people and making memories! Be sure to subscribe to stay updated.
